Getting started
Cloud Scheduler is designed to make planning accessible from Jira Cloud without forcing users to leave their project context. The intended first-run flow is simple: install the app, open a Jira project or board, display Cloud Scheduler from the app entry point, add resources, then create planned work linked to Jira issues.
First-run workflow
- Install Cloud Scheduler on the Jira Cloud test site using an administrator account.
- Open a Jira project that contains sample issues and users.
- From the project or board area, use the app entry point or plus/add option to display Cloud Scheduler in the project context when available.
- Open Resource and add Jira resources, Jira groups, generic resources or Cloud Scheduler groups.
- Create planning entries or tasks in Schedule and link them to Jira issues or Jira work items.
- Assign planned work to a resource, dates and planned hours.
- Open Calendar to validate monthly visibility of planned work, holidays, events and availability.
- Open Gantt to validate roadmap/timeline planning for planned work over time.
- Open Timesheet to compare planned effort with Jira logged work when sample worklogs exist.
- Open Pulse to review workload, capacity and planning health indicators.
Recommended setup for a first evaluation
- Create or select one Jira project with realistic sample issues.
- Prepare a few Jira users or Jira groups to represent teams or resources.
- Create 5 to 10 planned work entries across one or two weeks.
- Link planned work to Jira issues to validate the Jira planning context.
- Add sample worklogs if Timesheet validation is required.
- Review results with Calendar, Gantt and Pulse.
Typical roles
- Jira administrators install and configure the app.
- Project managers and PMOs use Schedule, Gantt and Pulse.
- Resource managers use Resource, Calendar and workload indicators.
- Delivery teams use Calendar, Schedule and Timesheet for operational follow-up.
